Business in the Palm of Your Hand
Businessman, who are they? Back to square one.. Throughout the centuries, people always love power and the feeling of having power. Feeling omnipotent, indestructible, On top of the world, that is what most people longing for. It is not living from paycheck to paycheck only to be part of a money-making machine. Humans are complex, made out of emotions and logical thinking. I hope that no people would like to be working from paycheck to paycheck instead of being their own boss but in reality, there are people who like to work for others. They love the feeling of security and having fulfilled all their needs but not their wants. But for those who do not, they are what I called a businessman.
Businessman in digital-techno world
To be frank, I do not have any experience in both sides of the world but here I am trying to grasp and decide which suits me better. Both have their own uniqueness but here I am amazed at businessmen today. It is undeniable that technology has altered our lives in many ways from the time we wake up until we sleep and even when we are asleep. I would say that the emerging of Covid-19 is the end of an era of conventional technology. A businessman needs to adapt to this new era and through it, comes many innovative breakthroughs such as innovation on vaccine Covid-19, how a restaurant operates, and how the supply chain innovates. The digital techno world comes to be a blessing for some, and a curse for others. Only those who adapt could survive.
Pandemic, Survival Adapting Game
Living through this blessing/curse situation, a businessman should adapt. Businesses fall during the pandemic and this is what I called blessing/curse. It is a blessing the competitors are wiped out but it is a curse our business could be wiped out too. This example brought me to this mindset that those who adapted the best win. This new era forces us to adapt in many ways, those skills that are outdated would be wiped out and replaced with Artificial Intelligence. However many new opportunities emerge, such as the rise of digital marketing, data scientist, and UI/UX Designer, and only those who adapt win. Being a businessman is a complicated series of those skills. Especially those with a limited budget, need to be self-financially thought on how to manage money and learn all the skills they could from accessible media such as youtube or TikTok. Now here is my new definition of a businessman, people who act on an opportunity with the ability to adapt, and from my previous story ‘know which track should he be on’.
Adapting for the Future
As I have said on adapting for the future, we have not come to the end of our main topic, business in the palm of your hand.
Thanks to this digital era, humans develop even further, they are pushed and forced to adapt and evolved beyond. The rise of AI, All Self Help Apps, Cryptocurrency, are things born out of our desperate measures to survive or what I would say an opportunity. These newborn babies' technology is still in a premature state and it's only in the palm of your hands. It is not too late to try to adapt by learning those new skills needed for the new era. Now it is about how to use your tools wisely, in this case, the gadget and internet you have in the palm of your hand. Youtube offers billion of lessons worth more than a college degree. Not to be condescending on a college degree but somehow I think it is true. How you can just google, how to be a successful entrepreneur, and if you do it with consistency, I believe you can do it. Most times, people learn things that they did not realize it(things) would come in a package with the things that they want to learn but that is a story for another day. Come forth my businessman, marching to this new digital era with all our weapons of gadgets and skills of adapting.
